What is Promises for Families?

When a parent is incarcerated, the child goes through a
grieving process just as all of us do when a loved one is taken
from our midst.  It is a grief that remains unrecognized and
unvalidated as children attempt to cope with the realities of a
hurtful and hidden situation.

Promises for Families is dedicated to providing quality summer
camp, after- school mentoring programs and academic tutoring
for children with a parent in prison, enabling them to work
through the grieving process in a positive and healing manner.

We are busy planning the 2013 camping season, and will have
multiple camps available for children ages 8-12.  Tutoring is
available to San Angelo area children every Tuesday evening.
Please call for details - 877-940-2267 ext. 2.

We work in partnership with organizations and agencies that
provide services for families of the incarcerated.

We believe in the power of creativity, and that each of us
embodies creativity.  By fostering that creative ability, we
empower children to grow and develop in an emotionally
healthy manner.

Our programs are based upon integration of music, movement,
art and nature.  Instructors have certifications and trainings in
several areas, including Health Rhythms drumming, Drums
Speak, art instruction, YogaKids, tai-chi, master naturalists and
counseling.  Instructors work together to create a safe and fun
environment for healthy emotional development.

The Foundation is 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization.

We have pushed so many of our
children into the tumultuous sea of
life in leaky boats without survival
gear.....help us now to give all our
children the anchor of faith, the
rudder of hope, the sails of
education and the paddles of family
to keep them going when life's sea
gets rough.
